BOX SCORE
DALY CITY, Calif—The final meeting between the San Jose Wolves (6-1) and the Ogden Knights (0-7) went the way it was supposed to.
Sort of.
The Wolves’ defense scored four times off of a handful of turnovers as San Jose cruised to a 71-12 victory over Ogden Saturday night at the Cow Palace.
Defensive end Leonard Moore consistently harassed Ogden quarterback Tariq Mojadidi, racking up a pair of sacks and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Linebacker Marvin Brown was all over the field for the Wolves recovering a fumble and recording a pair of sacks.
Defensive backs Tony Norman and Marcus Harper also had interceptions, with Norman returning his for a touchdown.
The defense was on the field for a majority of the game and handed the offense a short field, if not scoring themselves.
Wolves’ quarterback Omar Jacobs played in just the first quarter, throwing a touchdown while completing three of just four passes as San Jose led 28-0 after the opening quarter.
Patrick Carras guided the offense the rest of the way, throwing for two scores including the first professional touchdown receptions for rookies Kyle O’Donnel and Deral Miller. Carras also rushed for another score.
Fullback Fitu Tuua rushed for two touchdowns on just four carries.
However, the night was not perfect for the Wolves as Brown had to be helped off of the field during the waning minutes of the game.
The meeting was the third and final meeting during the regular season between the two squads with San Jose sweeping the season series. The Wolves edged the Knights April 3rd 36-29 and cruised to a 58-32 at the Cow Palace a week later.
The Wolves continue their home stand this Saturday against the Wenatchee Valley Venom at 7:15 at the Cow Palace. |
