Wolves Keep Knights in Search of First Victory

BOX SCORE

OGDEN -- Interesting games have interesting endings.

The Ogden Knights and San Jose Wolves took that to extremes Saturday night.
San Jose nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, allowing the Knights one last desperation shot at forcing overtime before the Wolves escaped with a 36-29 victory before a Golden Spike Arena gathering generously estimated at 1,200.

With a makeshift lineup, Ogden held the Wolves, who racked up 64 points last week against Wasilla to a second half touchdown.
San Jose took the lead on Omar Jacobs' 2-yard keeper with 1:50 remaining.
Ogden went three-and-out and the game was apparently over, but Anthony Gray recovered a Wolves fumble, and Ogden had six seconds to pull off a miracle ending.
Jeremy Glover threw a desperation heave to Emery Beckles in double coverage, but the Wolves were called for pass interference ... AND unsportsmanlike contact, giving Ogden another play at the San Jose 10.
Glover overthrew two Knight receivers, however.

Ogden's defense held Jacobs, a former fifth round draft pick by the Steelers to 7 of 24 and 147 yards. San Jose also hurt itself with 20 penalties for 142 yards.

Glover struggled as well, finishing 11 of 35 for 137 yards with two picks.

The start of the game was delayed 30 minutes while the Knights scrambled to get 20 players after most of the offensive line and Adrian Conway elected not to play for undisclosed reasons.
